VolkerFitzpatrick was awarded the contract for upgrading Ilford and Romford Stations in early 2019 as part of Crossrail. The purpose of the works was to enhance the customer experience for commuters. The scope of works included improvements to station entrances and the provision of step-free access.
Volkerfitzparick, Network Rail and Crossrail wanted to reduce costs, streamline the onboarding process for new starters on-site and move towards a fully digital construction site.

New starters completed site inductions digitally, reducing the average time from 5 hours to minutes.
Access Control.
Enhanced site security and ensure only the right people with the right competencies could get on-site.
Observations.
Automated issue reporting improved transparency and record-keeping, ensuring swift action and greater trust between teams.
